On weekend 2-4 August, six IKD Australia members represented Queensland at the 50th National Karate Championships in Geelong, Victoria.
IKD Australia were able to bring home 2 GOLD and 2 SILVER Medals, with Queensland coming in 3rd Place Overall on the Medal Tally.
It was a fantastic effort from Dana, Damine and Zac who narrowly missed the bronze medal, with Diba finishing second in her Kumite division. Dustin also fought hard to win silver and narrowly miss the gold in the final of his Kumite Division.
Delara proved to once again reclaim her National Champion status after she finished 1st in her Kumite division, and gaining selection into the Junior Girls Kumite Team, who also managed to win the gold medal.
A big well done to Daria and David who refereed at this year’s competition, and to Shihan Hamid who was once again a Queensland State coach.
It was great to see the hard work of all IKD Australia pay off at Nationals, and fantastic to see that our members were again able to make the whole Gympie region proud.
