Active After-School Communities (AASC)

What is the AASC Program?

The AASC Program is a free Australian Goverment initiative that provides primary school childern with access to sport and structured physical activity programs after school (3.00-5.30 pm).
The program, run at over 32OO schools and after-school care centres across Australia, gives children a positive first experience to start them on the sporting
pathway.
The Australian sports commission manages the AASC program nationally through a countrywide network of regional coordinators who assist schools and after-school care centres to facilitate the program, recruit and train community coaches and, most importantly, forge links between children and clubs.

Sporting Schools Karate Teens Australia Program

In July 2024, IKD Australia proudly participated in the Sporting Schools Karate Teens Australia program, introducing traditional Shotokan karate to students from Carinity Education Glendyne.

Over an eight-week program, students were introduced to fundamental karate skills, coordination exercises, discipline, respect and personal development through structured martial arts training.

The program provided an opportunity for young people to experience karate in a safe and supportive environment while developing confidence, teamwork and physical literacy.

IKD Australia is proud to support initiatives that encourage youth participation in physical activity and positive personal development through traditional karate training.

IKD Australia was proud to participate in the early delivery of the Sporting Schools Karate Teens Australia program.
